The colloquium is an introduction exercise to oral academic presentations. The colloquium takes place in early February. The presentation should offer an overview of current research on the subject of the internship (oral equivalent of BIBL).
### Important dates
* Bilbiograpic Defense: January 31, February, 1-2, 2022
* Talks must be coherent with the bibliographic references submitted to BIBL.
* February 10, 2022: the defense committee will provide recommendations on the bibliographic work, with potentially new references to include. *These recommendations have to be included in the final bibliographic report*.
* Internship Defense: June 28-30, 2022 (August 29 for late internship, not recommended - upon acceptance)
### Organization and presentation of the talk
* A presentation lasts 20 minutes. You should have around 15-20 slides.
* To prepare your talk, have a look to [Giving a great research talk](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/How-to-give-a-great-research-talk.pdf)
* Since COLQ is a colloquium dedicated to your bibliographic study, precise bibliographical references (authors and year) should appear on your slides.

### Talk contents
Your presentation must be understood by peoples not necessarily from the same field. Therefore, it could be good idea (1) to outline the general framework of your subject; (2) to explain the reasons that led you to choose this particular internship subject.
The next part of your presentation should outline the main ideas of the articles you have read, grouping them appropriately and structuring them in a clear and logical manner. This part can be more "technical" but should not be beyond the understanding of the audience. Your presentation should not only include the works that will be used directly during your internship; rather, you should give a broader view of the state of the art and motivate the works that will be used.
In your conclusion, you should situate the subject of your internship in relation to the different works you have presented, explaining how you will try to address the aspects that interest you based on existing works and considering new solutions.
### Typical outline of a presentation
* Introduction to the context of the internship, in order to motivate the presentation organization
* Presentation of the state of the art, with explicit mentions to the works you are presenting
* Conclusion explaining how you plan to address your internship subject based on the strength and weaknesses of the state of the art |
