[dev] Add text description of nodes at the cluster level (context: bug 11372)

I did not include the nodes count in the description, but used a separate field.

The way the description is generated is copy/pasted from abamotd. I propose to start with that, change consumers such as abamotd to use it, and then improve if needed.
